Every gate produced by GATEWORKS goes through a 5 stage design and development process from the initial consultation meeting on design, to final installation. On average, depending on the gate and the services that need to be installed in the case of an automatic gate, this will take approximately 4 weeks.
Each stage of the process is detailed below and will give you a better understanding of how your gate or railings are made and the timescale for each stage.
During the design stage of a gate or railings we will invite you along to our display area where we will show you working examples of the the types of gates that we can produce. Alternatively this design consultation can take place at the same time as the site survey as detailed in the next section where. During this meeting you may also find it useful to show us pictures or other examples of the type of gate that you are looking for so that we may best understand your needs. We will also show you the range of automatic opening systems that we have on offer and the best one to suit your needs.
This stage of the development process can be completed in this single meeting if a decision is arrived at.
The second stage of the design involves us going to the entrance where the gate will be installed and conducting a free site survey. To do this the pillars the gate is to be hung on must be in place and be strong enough to hold the weight of the gate as we can only take measurements when the distance is finalized. If the pillars are not strong enough we are also able to rebuild them using a steel core and surrounding brick or block work so they match your existing wall etc. We can then measure the opening and decide on the best type of gate to be hung there in regards to 1,2,3,or 4 stage gate or even sliding.
Once we have come to a decision on the gate and opening we will organize that the electrical services necessary in the case of an automated gate be put in place. This can be completed while we are moving forward with the fabrication of the gate.
This stage will generally take place within a few days of the initial meeting or phone call.
Having finalized the design of your gate and the size of the entrance we are then able to undertake the fabrication of the basic structure of the gate - the frame and all of the structural bars. We will also make up the fitting to attach the gate to your pillars. This is hand crafted by experienced welders in our workshop in Blanchardstown. All of the welding in our gates or railings is fully guaranteed by us for 10 years.
Having completed the fabrication of the basic structure of the gate we will then add the design features that you have chosen. These are the latches, ornamental tops and other central pieces.
This stage will take approximately 10 days
We have a range of finishes that can be applied to the gates that we produce. A decision on this is usually made during the design stage of the development. This stage will usually take approximately 1 week depending on the type of finish that you specify. in certain circumstances where a galvanized finish or powder coating is to be applied the gate will have to go off site to have this applied.
To read further on the types of finishes that can be applied to our gates please visit the finishes page.
This stage will take approximately 5 days
Once the gate has had its finish applied we will than install it. This can only be carried out if the weather is fine as it may involve electrical equipment being used.
This stage depending on the weather and the type of gate to be installed, automation etc will take approximately 1 to 2 days to complete
